Hyosung Advanced Materials Corporation and Hyosung TNC Corporation participated in Techtextil 2019, held in Frankfurt, Germany from May 14 to 17. At this year’s Techtextil, the world’s largest industrial fiber exhibition, Hyosung presented an extensive lineup of advanced products including Hyosung TNC’s premium yarns, Hyosung Advanced Materials’ major vehicle-related materials such as seatbelt yarn, airbag yarn and aramid fiber, attracting buyers’ attention. The company expects a powerful synergy effect to be created by securing the competitiveness of all its industrial yarns and acquiring the world’s No.1 tire-cord and spandex products.

Hyosung TNC participates in ‘Performance Days’



Hyosung TNC participated in the ‘Performance Days’ event held in Munich, Germany on May 8 as part of the company’s policy to target the outdoor clothing market, which is growing quickly in Europe. Competing with each other in technology, some 290 companies from all over the world attended the exhibition, where Hyosung TNC presented diverse premium yarns under the theme of ‘the beauty of functionality’ and received a great deal of attention from customers. We expect that the company will continue to maintain its global No. 1 position as the leader of the business trend.

The Honorary President Council of the Regional Federation of the KOFST visits Hyosung’s Changwon Plant



The Honorary President Council of the Regional Federation of the KOFST (Korean Federation of Science & Technology Societies) visited Hyosung’s Changwon plant on May 10. The KOFST, Korea’s largest science and technology organization, consists of numerous science and engineering academic societies and research institutes. The main schedule of their visit to the Changwon plant included a meeting of the honorary president council, which is composed of 16 people including Lee Jeong-sook, the honorary president and officials of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Federation of the KOFST, and university professors. As the latter are experts in science and engineering, they showed keen interest in the history of the Changwon plant and the technology behind the products related to the transmission and transformation of electric power, as well as the Smart Grid and the future eco-friendly energy project.

Hyosung Heavy Industries held the Technology Innovation Forum (TIF)



The 17th Hyosung Heavy Industries Corporation’s Technology Innovation Forum (TIF) was held at the company’s Mapo Headquarters in Seoul on May 17. The TIF was a venue for exchanging technologies and sharing ideas with employees and the external advisory group under the theme of the global ‘Smart Factory’ trend and the digital switchover in the manufacturing sector. We expect that the company will secure prior technology through University, Research Institute and Industry collaboration.

Hyosung Advanced Materials holds Performance Sharing Event



Hyosung Advanced Materials held a ‘Performance Sharing Event’ on May 29 in which executives entitled with more than 1st grade from the Headquarters and executives and team managers from the company’s domestic workplaces participated. Held as a video conference between the headquarters, business premises, and overseas corporations, the event served as an occasion to review the management situation of the company and each department and their performance in the first quarter and their projected performance for the second quarter of the year, and to share sales and quality issues in each business area.

Company runs education program for personnel in charge of operating the STATCOM at KEPCO’s Donghae Electrical Substation



The education program was conducted at the Changwon plant from May 9 to 10 for employees in charge of operating the STATCOM (STATic synchronous COMpensator) at KEPCO’s Donghae Electrical Substation. It was held at the request of KEPCO, and attended by eight employees who are responsible for operating and maintaining the Donghae Electrical Substation. The attendees visited the STATCOM production site and learned about the installation and testing of an extra-high voltage transformer and a general transformer from the internal lecturers of the relevant departments. The company hopes that the program was useful to client staff members who operate our products, and expresses thanks to the internal lecturers for the education.

Hyosung TNS celebrated its 32nd anniversary



Hyosung TNS held the celebratory ceremony for its 32nd anniversary in Daejeon on May 24. After a mass hike involving about 600 employees, the company held the celebratory ceremony in downtown Daejeon and awarded special prizes to longstanding and model employees. We look forward to the continued success of Hyosung TNS and its long history in the future.

Hyosung Brazil Corporation holds the CREORA League



Hyosung Brazil Corporation held the 1st ‘Creora League’, participated in by 13 teams including the Creora team, the partnership company team, and the affiliated company team. All the participants competed with each other by showing their hidden football skills. The well-contested final match was decided with a penalty shootout. The partnership companies showed an enthusiastic response, giving a big hand to the players. The company hopes that the Creora League will become a venue for cementing close and lasting relationships with global client companies.

Hyosung conducts cleaning activities at the Seoul National Cemetery and Yeongcheon National Cemetery



Hyosung employees visited the Seoul National Cemetery, which is located in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, on May 29 and carried out various cleaning activities, such as paying their respects at the Hyeonchungtap Memorial Tower, offering flowers, cleaning gravestones, and removing weeds. With June designated as the ‘Memorial Month’, cleaning activities have been performed twice a year since the establishment of a sisterhood relationship with the Seoul National Cemetery for one company, one grave section cleaning in 2014. Meanwhile, employees from the Gumi plant visited the Yeongcheon National Cemetery and conducted a grave cleaning activity as well.

Gumi and Ulsan Plants conduct the ‘One Company, One Village Support Activity’



Employees of the Gumi plant visited the village of Saenamgol (Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do), which is a sisterhood village of the ‘One Company, One Village Support Activity’, during the farming season and helped local farmers to sow seeds. It was a good occasion to support a farming village, which tend to suffer from labor shortages. Meanwhile, employees from the Ulsan plant visited the village of Junggosan (Onyang-eup, Ulsan), which is also a sister village of the ‘One Company, One Village Support Activity’, on May 28. Some twenty Hyosung employees went to the village to help local farmers with rice planting. The participants expressed their satisfaction at being able to work at a local farm despite the hot weather. They also plan to participate in a rice reaping activity in the harvest season this autumn.

The Changwon Plant supports a ‘School Parents Reading Coaching Class’



The Changwon plant supported the 2019 School Parents Reading Coaching Class, organized by the Changwon Office of Education, from May 8 to 10. The Changwon plant has supported the Coaching Class every year since 2014. This year’s coaching class, which was attended by about 180 parents of elementary and junior school students in Changwon, offered high-quality lectures with invited lecturers who are experts in writing, reading education, and reading discussion. The company hopes that it was a useful education program that enabled school parents to enhance their knowledge of the liberal arts and provide their children with effective reading guidance.

Hyosung’s Anyang Office held a “silver party” for village elders jointly with the Hogye-dong Women’s Society on May 8 to celebrate Parents’ Day. This year’s annual silver party, organized by the Hogye-dong Women’s Society, and held jointly with Hyosung’s Anyang Office, consisted of a trip to a local restaurant, a meal and a gift, and celebratory performances for local senior citizens. Hyosung USA participated in the ceremony to unveil a Hyosung Bench held at the Veterans Memorial Park in Huntsville, Alabama on May 27. As Alabama State, where Hyosung USA is located, is the home of many Korean War veterans, Hyosung has held an annual event to commemorate the sacrifice of soldiers who fought to defend the Republic of Korea since 2013. The Huntsville Veterans Memorial Park is a place where local community members go to commemorate the noble spirit of war veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Hyosung USA employees participated in the local charity running event held at the Ballantyne Corporate Park on May 18. Organized by the local YMCA, the event was held to raise money to support the local community’s youth. Hyosung USA employees have taken part in this charity event since 2015.

The Gumi and Ulsan Plants hold ‘Movie Day’ as an event for the Month of the Family



The Gumi and Ulsan plants held the ‘Movie Day’ event on May 11 to celebrate May, the Month of the Family. It screened the world-famous movie “Avengers: Endgame” which many employees went to see. The event was widely appreciated by employees who were able to enjoy the movie together with their family or colleagues, having been unable to see it at the cinema due to their busy working schedule.

The Jeonju Plant conducts the 2019 Unity Training



The Jeonju Plant conducted the 2019 Unity Training program for two days on April 30 and May 7. This year’s training consisted of an indoor survival game in which team members were required to establish tactical strategies, and a hike around Gangcheon Mountain in Sunchang. The participants in the indoor survival game became completely absorbed in the game, which consisted of two halves, each lasting seven minutes. In addition, the employees enjoyed a ‘healing’ time by hiking up Gangcheon Mountain and enjoying its splendid landscape, including a number of waterfalls.
