Hyosung R&DB Labs continues to unlock infinite possibilities with the best technology Hyosung R&DB Labs’ technology for manufacturing, dispersing, and coating phosphors used for brightness enhancement film has acquired a New Excellent Technology (NET) certification. With this, Hyosung R&DB Labs has recorded an unprecedented achievement once again.
New technology created with a dedication to producing products of the best quality
On May 24, our company acquired a NET certification for our technology for manufacturing, dispersing, and coating phosphors used for brightness enhancement film at the 1st New Excellent Technology (NET) Certification Awards Ceremony, which took place at the Sheraton Seoul Palace Gangnam Hotel in Seoul. Brightness refers to the degree of brightness per unit area of a light source, and our brightness enhancement technology has been developed by the researchers at Hyosung R&DB Labs.
Established in 1971, Hyosung R&DB Labs is South Korea's first research institute connected with a private company and has been leading the growth of the South Korean industry by developing top quality products with the best technology. Hyosung R&DB Labs is playing a pivotal role in Hyosung technology’s ability to lead the world, by expanding its research areas into the fields of synthetic fibers, chemical raw materials and products, and new materials. Going beyond simply catching up with advanced technologies, Hyosung R&DB Labs strives to develop new market-leading technologies and has been researching ways to improve the problem of the display brightness degradation as the display resolution increases. This newly obtained technology certification is the fruit of such efforts.
Pride of the envelope-pushing Hyosung R&DB Labs
The brightness enhancement film developed by Hyosung R&DB Labs has been designed to improve the problem of brightness degradation, which is inherent in ultra-high-resolution displays such as Full UHD TVs. To that end, a phosphor has been applied to brightness enhancement film in sheet form so that the phosphor gets separated from the heat source. With this method, as the phosphor deteriorates, reduction of the brightness resulting from degradation of the light conversion efficiency can be prevented, and the phosphor’s density can also be adjusted freely, making it possible to attain high brightness. One notable characteristic of our brightness enhancement film is that it has been coated using our original phosphor synthesis technology so that the phosphor is precisely dispersed in film form. Hyosung R&DB Labs has filed for both domestic and international patents for this proprietary technology and plans to commercialize it through Shinwha Intertek, an optical film specialist and a subsidiary of Hyosung.
