The 63rd general meeting of shareholders was held on March 23 at the Mapo headquarters. With the attendance of shareholders and institutional investors, Hyosung reported the sales performance of the previous year and made decisions pertaining to major business matters. Hyosung is currently securing its place in the international market by accelerating global management, resolving to do its utmost in enhancing enterprise value to fulfill the interests of shareholders.

[Textile PG] Textile PG held the ‘Creora Workshop’ in Asia
Textile PG visited clients in Asia such as China, Hong Kong and Taiwan for 2 weeks from March 14 and held the Creora Workshop. The Creora Workshop is a customized counseling service that provides the right trend information for each client and proposes new fabric development using Hyosung products. It is well received by clients seeking to reinforce their functional line according to the active lifestyle trend that has been receiving a lot of attention of late.
[Textile PG] Targeting the athleisure market with a Vietnamese fashion brand
Hyosung presented a sportswear line on March 19 after signing an agreement with Vietnamese fashion company Fashion Star. The southern part of Vietnam is hot year-round and features particularly high demand for functional clothing. Accordingly, products applying all kinds of high-functional yarn such as cooling and UV protection for the trend-sensitive younger generations are released, receiving notable attention from the local Vietnamese market. Starting with Vietnam, Hyosung plans to increase its global market share in collaboration with local partners.
[Textile PG] Textile PG participates in ‘Daegu International Textile Fair’ for win-win growth
Textile PG participated in the Daegu International Textile Fair held in EXCO from March 7 to 9. With the leading technological skills as a front-runner in chemical fiber, Hyosung opened up exhibition booths in cooperation with 11 clients, supporting the marketing and sales activities of the clients. Meanwhile, Nylon Polyester Fiber PU presented cold material aqua-X and askin, and Spandex PU displayed fabric applying the functionality of nylon and polyester to creoraⓇ products, which attracted a great deal of attention from visitors. In addition, industrial yarn such as TANSOMEⓇ, Aramid and ALKEXⓇ were also displayed with an imposing splendor of a comprehensive textile maker.

On March 6, industrial Materials PG participated in the JEC World 2018, a composite materials exhibition held in Paris, France. It is the industry’s most authoritative exhibition in which major companies participate from all over the world including those in the US and Europe. Hyosung exhibited a broad variety of products such as industrial, aviation, sports and leisure goods, which were hot issues with global clients.

Chemicals PG held a technical seminar for clients in Noida, the biggest industrial area in India, located near New Delhi. It was a chance to let global clients know about Hyosung products and technologies and discuss the direction for development. On March 14, Industrial Machinery PU held the proclamation ceremony for the Zero Defect campaign. The Zero Defect campaign is an effort to eradicate quality issues, which was started out to maximize business performance by providing high-quality products for clients with the mindset of “doing things precisely from the start.” Industrial Machinery PU will discover and deal with potential factors of defects once a week in each team and group, and also hold a competition every quarter.

The proclamation ceremony for 2018 Safety & Health Cooperation Program was held on March 14 at the conference room in the main building of the Changwon Plant. This program is held to support safety and health of inside and outside partners and achieve zero hazards by following the four critical safety regulations in industrial settings. In Part 1, everyone declared compliance with the four critical safety regulations in industrial settings, and in Part 2, the participants including inside and outside partner representatives talked about the performance in 2017 and operation plans for 2018.
[Trading PG] Chemical Products PU succeeds in the first export of HU-CHEMS KVF (Vietnam fertilizer plant) fertilizers
In March, Chemical Products PU successfully exported 500 tons of HU-CHEMS KVF fertilizers to the new client Golden Planters in the Philippines. This project was requested by the Vietnam KVF (Korea-Vietnam Fertilizer Co., Ltd) complex fertilizer plant in which 100% of shares have been invested in and owned by Taekwang and HU-CHEMS, through which the fertilizers were exported to Southeast Asian regions near Vietnam. The fertilizer department of Chemical Products PU could succeed in exporting to the new client Golden Planters, beating out other local competitors, based on expedient market research. Vietnam KVF announced that they will maintain the partnership to accelerate development of the Southeast Asian market, and Chemical Products PU also declared that they will focus on selling fertilizer by actively developing new demands.

Nautilus Hyosung PU is setting out to preemptively expand the FinTech business in the global market. Recently, it has formed a cooperative relationship with a US FinTech company and launched a service to purchase gift cards via ATMs, which will be applied to thousands of devices starting from this year. Last year, it has entered into a partnership with a FinTech company with cloud financial transaction technology and is now providing the service after applying the relevant technology to ATMs.

Hyosung Capital PU provided education to prevent sexual harassment for all employees on March 26 at the education center on the 9th floor, with intentions to cultivate a sound value system and create a healthy work culture. This education was led by a professional lecturer who focused on providing cases of sexual harassment at work and talked about counseling and relief procedures of victimized workers. “The importance of preventing sexual harassment is increasing alongside the recent spread of the Me Too movement,” said CEO Kim Yong-Deok. “We will participate in education with constant interest so that all employees can maintain a proper work life with mutual respect.” Hyosung Capital PU is carrying out annual education seminars to prevent sexual harassment according to the legal duty of workers.

Hyosung donates a library to Vietnam with Hyosung Championship funds as well as corporate and individual donations
Hyosung donated a mini library to a local school in Vietnam with the funds raised at the Hyosung Championship Golf Tournament as well as corporate and individual donations, and held a signboard hanging ceremony on March 9. Hyosung remodeled an old school building into a library, and donated over 100 books so that students who do not have much access to reading material can now read more books to help the sculpt their future vision more clearly. Hyosung has donated mini libraries to 5 elementary schools near Hyosung Vietnam since 2015.
Ulsan Plant gives industry-academia cooperation scholarships to students at University of Ulsan
On March 16, the Ulsan Plant gave scholarships to two students at the University of Ulsan. Ulsan Plant is donating a specific amount every year for students who attend the University of Ulsan and facing financial difficulties despite getting good grades so as to stably devote themselves to their studies and become a pillar of the community in the future.
Changwon Plant and Hyosung Changwon Labor Union hold a fund-raising event
On February 26, Changwon Plant and Hyosung Changwon Labor Union held a fund-raising event, in which many employees participated and engaged in some fun camaraderie. As much as 6.2 million KRW was collected that day, which will be presented to employees facing financial difficulties. This event proved how warm-hearted the employees are in helping out their colleagues.
The Class Hyosung holds a traffic safety campaign for children
The Class Hyosung held a traffic safety campaign for children for the entire month of March. The campaign was held as a CSR activity of The Class Hyosung to stir up interest about rapidly increasing traffic accidents that are occurring in school zones. The Class Hyosung distributed fluorescent backpack covers for children in the new semester to ensure their safety when walking to and from school.
